Basic Eligibility Criteria
1. For Apprentice Police Constables (Male / Female / Drivers)
Age Limit: Must be between 18 and 25 years of age by the closing date of applications. (Relaxed up to 30 years for Constable Drivers holding a valid heavy vehicle driving license).
Educational Qualifications:
Passed at least 06 subjects in the G.C.E. O/L Examination in not more than two sittings, with credit passes for Mother Tongue (Sinhala/Tamil) and Mathematics.
Note for Drivers: Must possess a clean driving license with experience.
2. For Apprentice Sub Inspectors – SI (Male / Female)
Age Limit: Must be between 18 and 28 years of age.
Educational Qualifications:
Passed the G.C.E. O/L Examination with credit passes in Mother Tongue, Mathematics, and English (in not more than two sittings).
AND Passed all 03 subjects in the G.C.E. A/L Examination in one sitting.
3. Physical Requirements (General Guidelines)
Height:
Male: Minimum 5 feet 6 inches (5′ 6″)
Female: Minimum 5 feet 3 inches (5′ 3″)
Chest: Minimum 30 inches (For males, unexpanded).
Vision & Health: Must possess excellent physical health, perfect eyesight, and meet the standard Body Mass Index (BMI) requirements.

Instructions for Application
Read the following instructions carefully before completing the application form and prepare the required documents for upload.
- Select the position applied for according to the qualifications specified in the Gazette.
- An applicant cannot apply twice for the same position. However, separate applications may be submitted for positions in the General Police Service and the Special Task Force.
- All information in the application form must be filled accurately. Providing false information may result in the application being rejected.

Information required to complete the application form and documents to be uploaded:
- Measure and record the applicant’s height and chest (in feet, inches, and centimeters).
- Record the names of parents and siblings, along with their National Identity Card numbers, telephone numbers, and their residential police station.
- Email address, WhatsApp number, and Facebook profile name (ensure these values are entered as links).

- Birth Certificate (mandatory)

- Educational Certificates – (Copies of educational certificates relevant to the qualifications for the applied position are mandatory)
- Valid Driving License (mandatory for Police Constable Driver applicants)
- In accordance with paragraph 18 of the Gazette, if the applicant is employed in the public service, a letter from the Head of the institution stating that the applicant can be released from service is required. (If the applicant is serving in the Police Service, a recommendation from the relevant Officer-in-Charge of Division/Director is mandatory.)
- Resignation letter if you have resigned from the public service/tri-armed forces or other armed services.
